I was trying to go back a remember all the great stuff from this week. Can't keep up.......
Sid, Wow on the B. G. read. I was looking for the red sea to part! Very voice of God!
Robert, I really liked the tone of your B.G. spot. I found it very persuasive.
Maggie, I always enjoy your characters! Even though I liked both characters....I found the river chick very hypnotic. Which was awesome. _________________ Heather

Heather is a chicken, Heather is a chicken, Heather is a chicken...
Posting on a Sunday evening, when nobody's here. And the thread goes POOF! in the morning.
Too bad for them, 'cuz they'll miss a very, very strong Ruby on your second take there, Heather.
You put a good twist and accent on it; you were playful. It was solid.
You didn't, however, pull of the sad mother.
That was just a lovely little text: poignant and wistful. It needs very special treatment.
I had a similar little bit in-studio last year; a Pfeizzer corporate video where I was voicing a fella who had lost his wife to cancer.
The director wasn't thrilled with my first take.
"Sorry; I didn't feel it," he said.
I asked for half a minute, closed my eyes, and thought about my mother, who we had lost some six months previous.
I read it again, and there was a fairly long silence pounding in my head-set.
"There won't be a dry eye in the house," he finally said.
I bore you with that, Heather, only to suggest that you draw on some experience and deep feeling to bring home such a piece of pathos. It has to be real. Otherwise, it sounds pretty corny.

OMG my feathers are showing!!! I thought I had them all nicely tucked away! Yes, I will proudly say baawk bawk bawk bawwwkkkk, sratch, sratch!
Ok, but in my own defense.....Sunday is officially my first day of 'my' weekend.....so I don't always have time to jump on the forum...
Robert,
Thanks for the advice and the story. I do understand completely what you are saying. I get in my own way sometimes. I struggle with reads were I am playing a parent or the like. I don't have kids, so relating to kid topics in a script can be hard for me. But, I need to remember that is doesn't matter were the emotion comes from......I don't need to be so literal! _________________ Heather
