Hey Gang,

Not sure if this one's for real, but it seems like a suspect to me:
http://americanactorsearch.com/Voice_Overs.html

The "prize" is a trip to North Carolina for a shoot, and a 1 year agency contract in LA (with whom???)

Oh, did I mention there's a $40 entrance fee?
(buyer beware!)

If it walks like a duck...

Hard to say! The graphics look foreign and at the top it reads: Donec eget something. It could be for real which has been outsourced to India.

It probably cost too much to run it here, the good thing is that voiceover work can't be outsourced. There was a really cool show on 30 days
about outsourcing.

But it would be pretty cool if there was a show called: The Last voice-over Standing. They've done everything else except us! I'd pay $75 for a registering fee to participate in an even like that if a legitimate entity had something of that nature.

Don't remember having to pay an application/audition fee when I had applied to be on survivor or any of the other TV reality shows it was free and if you got picked then you'd have some out of pocket expenses.

for $75.00 you can buy an 80 gig firewire backup drive on e-bay.....

Ever go for an audition and when it was your turn to audition the producer would ask you to choose a script to read from the card. After reading it he says something like: I think there might be something there but I tell you what let me send you to my friend first so we can have your headshots re:done. Then we’ll start sending you out on auditions. Hummm,,, there’s for real for you. The headshot scam!

I agree - lots of for real out there. The only one I came close to was when I first moved to LA. Took a class at the "Celebrity Center". At the time I didn't know that is Scientology Central. Fortunately I was armed with prior information.

The voiceover competition show's a good idea - you should pitch it to the networks...

Better ways to waste my $$$ than on for real,

That’s scientology for you! In New York they have little tables set up in the subway or even on street corners, sometimes they will give away a free copy of Dianetics no questions asked and at other times you’d have to take a survey to get the “Free Gift” Have to say, I took the book home and read half of it just out of curiosity to see what all the hype was about and never did I think it was possible for one to actually be reconditioned and brainwashed just by reading a book! Always thought it required the presence of a cult leader….. If you don’t have your own free will or mind you can get sucked up into it and windup reprogrammed. Looks like you left just in time like me and have a mind that can’t be brainwashed.

Here is another Scam:
I remember one time I went to a yoga class with my girlfriend at the time, it was a free introductory class (have to say there are a lot of woman in yoga) anyway The Great Yogi was coming to town. His message: How to atain simplicity in life annnd how the key achieving happiness was to become a minimalist only then will you reach the true heights of spirituality in becoming a Yogi. A true Yogi needs nothing, but before that they pass out the granola to help expedite the spiritual journey that will help in making the transition in your generosity at the end of the class, because his final message before you go is: Remember a true Yogi needs nothing, only then will you find the master. My fee is $100.00 Believe it or not folks were actually paying the fee for the so called free seminar to see the great Yogi. And so that’s the life of the son of the Braham in the bright lights big. It doesn’t happen that way in Siddhartha. But maybe were in the wrong business. Perhaps if we start preaching nothing folks will pay!

Then there is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ever see the commercial: Call the 800 number below your screen to receive your free gift. It’s free but they only way to get the free gift is allow the Mormons in your flat so that they can spread the word of God.

Jesus is coming!

Oh, my fee? Please the Paypal button is on your right.
