|
|
This week, I read a post by someone who had won a job on this site for over five hours of recording a huge script, e learning, for a corporation, and the corp. needed the audio files prepared in a very precise way, individual .wav files, etc. This is an engineering situation that someone without experience could not possible do (unless taking it to a pro engineer to finish it up or...) And as a talent who does e learning and engineers it constantly, I know whereof I speak...it's amazing to me that this vo talent was brave enough to do the job. Good luck to this person! They were posted asking for advice on this board...fortunately some of you gave that advice but I did not read the specific advice needed to turn a non-audio pro into a pro on one job! Again, I urge VOICE 123 to separate the AUDIO ENGINEERS from those who are beginning recording and operating without a full studio and really are NOT engineers. We audio engineers know our craft! We're proud of that. We deserve to be separated out from those who are newbees and get the job offers here that require advanced audio engineering knowledge. I want Voice 123 to read this post, hopefully, and respond that the new system will address this serious situation to please both job seekers and voice seekers. _________________ Bettye Zoller: CLIOS, ADDYS, GOLDEN RADIOS, AUDIES, Member Voice and Speech Trainers Assoc., AFTRA SAG, 34 years a pro. |

En garde', Colin! Of course, I don't have the advantage of having a superhero ladyfriend at my beck and call like you do, nor did I do any production on mine.............. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Scott... I will probably submit my dry parts in succession and consider (haven't decided) just sending that along at the end as an aside. I mostly like doing these full blown productions for the now publicly available forum audio.
Production... it's a hobby. Maybe I should say that over in the hobbies thread but I'm sure it's obvious. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

Bettye,
I appreciate your passion and insight on the production and engineering agendas... just thinking those comments would be better suited and read more by posting them either over on the Geek Place and/or General Chit Chat forum.
BTW, supposedly the powers-that-be at V123 aren't bothering to peruse these forums any more. Whether there's any truth to that, I can't say, but if you have anything you want them to hear, the best way is to e-mail them directly. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Colin (& Cira) - Wonderfully done! Love it!! Colin - always love the production on your spots.
Scott - I never got the lead (snif snif) but if you send me the script, I'd be up for giving it a shot - interested? It would be fun! _________________ Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible - Anonymous

Thanks Scott for the compliment. I really appreciate it. Strangely enough I never submit demos with music. I submitted a dry read. I only put music in for my playing around only. I am not a producer!
Glad to hear the Pollack family had a great time.
Best to you and all the group here on these V123 forums,

Thom: Regarding your grizzly read (a few pages back)-- VERY NICE! Very nice indeed. When listening to it, it seemed to me that it would be perfectly suited to those multi-screen jobbies (you know, synced up & all) in IMAX like you would see at the Museum of Science and Industry (it's a Chicago museum)-- Bill Kurtis voices LOADS of those. But that's what I envisioned. Pictures were painted for me with your words. Ya can't beat that!
Rajiv: Re: spinning & twirling...very funny! Enjoyed that quite a bit. Tempo and attitude-- splendid!
Re: Horner... Is that your real voice? I don't believe I've ever heard the "real Rajiv"! Oh yeah, the read. Again, beautifully done. Aren't you getting sick of hearing that? ha ha!
Colin: Re: Aurora.... very nice. You seem to have found your groove. I would've liked it just a bit softer in a couple of areas but that's being REALLY picky of me because it really was nicely done.
Brad: Re: spinning & twirling... I enjoyed your read as well as Rajiv-- very funny. What the heck is that all about anyway? Oh, were those record scratches/skips in there or was that your watermark? If it was the former, that was a nice touch.
The Koontz Brigade... David, Thom, Kent: Well done fellows! Can't say I liked one over the other-- all different takes but they all worked for me. I hate to say it but "She'll do anything to protect the animal she loves"-- am I the only one who had that line strike as weird? Anyway, glad I don't have to make that decision. I'd be eenie, meenie, miney, moeing it for days!
My Hero(s)... Colin & Scott: You both did a great job with this but for me, Colin's worked a bit better & not because it was produced. He sounded much more super with that underlying hubby who defers to his wife kinda guy. Scott, you were more of a regular hubby, guy next door-- and that may just be what they're looking for.
Hope you don't mind the long post. Can you tell most of my birdies flew the coop? I promise I'll adjust before I get too obnoxious. Hey! No fair saying "TOO LATE!!" ha ha!!!!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend guys!! _________________ Dina's Voice To go!

Dina, that was the Izotope Vinyl plugin. Guaranteed to make your recording sound like a dirty record!
I just threw it on there to see what it would sound like since the lead talks about the effect done that way.
I might have overdone it a tad, though. Good thing I submitted it dry.
Thanks to all for your kind words...since I'm about to run out of subscription here. Hope I get something I can post here in the next 3 days. |
