Lots of good ones out there. You'll find a few here:

Functional and reasonably priced. I could use one with a little halogen or led light to illuminate the copy for these old eyes - but I haven't found that combo yet.

Maxine,
For desktop, I often use these. They're inexpensive, and can be found at most office supply stores.

a table-top music stand?

Here's one I've purchased:

Sure there are others that are solid somewhere -- I just wanted the fold up kind. Sam Ash also has copy holders that clamp onto your mic stand if you want.

"Neither Celine, Ol' Blue Eyes, Roy Orbinson, nor James Brown ever worked from a Barcalounger. "

How many vo's have they done? 3 of them are dead and the other one just looks and interviews like she is.

Just a little advice with regards to music stands, particularly metal ones. Whether tabletop or standing, most music stands are made of rigid materials and with metal ones, a pinging or ringing can come off of them if you work near your copy, are loud or look downward into the stand. A simple little piece of carpet remnant will usually do the trick.

My "flop-sweat-towel" - laid across the stand - works quite nicely, as well. Smile

probably the most interesting stand I've seen as of late is the Jazz stand by RAT.

Collapsable and can be used either on a desk, or extended up to 50" with copy.

A bit pricey, but Banksey uses one and highly recommended it.

lachtot

You make me laugh JS. Perhaps you need some of that "liquid blue" stuff that September reads for. LOL

Anyway, I've always been taught that you should stand when singing. So it will probably surprise people that I even sit when I'm doing jingles,
I do have good posture though.

Part of it is to see the screen when I'm stacking vocals. Part of it is that the Army screwed up my feet.....and sometimes I'm just lazy. Also I tend to want to dance when I'm standing.

I always stand or dance at karaoke though... But then I have the mic in my hand. When I first started out in VO it took me a while to get used to not having it in my hand.
