Hi all,

Thank you Alex for creating this forum!

I'm a 30 year experienced pro with more knowledge than I know what to do with. There is so much more to this industry than keying a mic and flapping your tounge. You won't learn it overnight. It takes years. But the more you do, the better you get.

If you are just starting out, check all of the forums for great tips! To get a competitive advantage, Use them!

Hi to the Master:
I bow down to you. I am deperately trying to find a source of income from providing voice over work from my home. Any tips, suggestions, comments, how to etc?

Are you willing to be a mentor to a "would be" ??

It's one of the Susan Berkeley guys!

I loved your story, man.

Any advice on relocating towards a hotbed of VO work? I'm looking to do that in about 2 years, and would like to start planning ahead.

Regards,
Brad Venable

Me to, Me to. Like Anne, I too, am attempting to find a way to earn money from home performing VO.

This forum is going to be a godsend, since I have struggled in my little town to find resources that don't want a $100 per hour to assist you.

Plus, if you are working a full-time job to feed the family at 10 to 12 hours a day, finding time to do a VO can be very challenging.

So, hit us with your best shot Dan. I think we are all ears.

Chris. Cool

Hi Everyone, Hi Master VO...

Just wanted to let you guys know I've got a huuuuge FAQ section at www.voice-overs.com/resources/ Just go to the link and then click on FAQ on the left.

I teach a simple 1-2-3 approach in VO...
1) GET A PRODUCT TO SELL (that woudl be your abilities)
2) CREATE YOUR FREE SAMPLES (demos, of course)
3) MOBILIZE YOUR SALES FORCE (agents, yourself, sites like this one)

You can make a living at this... it just takes time, skill, a little investment (minimal compared to most businesses!) and a lot of perseverence. I've also got 30 years of experience and will do my best to answer your questions! One of my VO students came to me with no experience...and now she's working for Discovery Channel and DIY! Now, not everyone has her natural ability... or her perseverance. You can do this. But don't expect it to just "happen." Remember that even master musicians and professional athletes still practice, and still work out.

Good Luck everybody!

PS... newbies... once you've got good demos together, this really is a great site for leads.
