Just got this demo on a project. It's amazing!
Project details
This project is for a new advertisement for an online shopping website. It should be read in a similar style/format to old newscasts, fast paced, slightly compressed sounding and with some kind of backing music to suit the script.
Similar to the kind of thing you'd hear in a Rocky and Bullwinkle episodes narrative style (http://tinyurl.com/39u8f5). The script has no predefined length, and will be used internally at our website, as well as externally at various podcasts.
Project script
And today news arrived from the future of the relaunch of www.companysite.com. Company is releasing a wide range of brand new products and services to propel Mac software shopping into the 22nd century... dozens of years early.
A simple and easy shopping cart begins the buying process at Company, where you'll find all of your favorite Mac software, rather than buying from the developers, a tedious process that wastes time. And we don't mean to blow our own trumpet, but Company also offers a wide range of additional features and benefits you won't find anywhere else, like 24/7 customer support and service, and unbeatable prices (unless they're beaten). Join the team at Company for our launch late this September and use the coupon code COUPON for big savings. You wouldn't want to miss out on amazing deals like those in the ticker tape below, and be called stupid by all of your friends.
[Full script is around twice this length]
And the demo...
I won't spoil it by saying who the artist is (psst... read the URL)

I was amazed by this one, and am seriously considering closing the project, and just going with this artist. What do you guys think?

Mark-- I would totally go for it! What a super performance. Close that puppy down, my friend. I'm sure the campaign will be a roaring success!
Yours,
Amy

Mark, everything you asked for from a talent was delivered exceptionally well in that demo. You've found your man!

I'm buoyed by a Seeker's enthusiasm for a very solid audition.
Hats off to Mr. Mace, and to Mark Howson for stopping by with a Seeker's perspective.
I would only beseech you to hear the rest of the auditions that you asked for. In the real non-site world, after all, auditions are scheduled and all those invited get to do their song and dance.
It's common, professional courtesy.
In over 200 real-world auditions, I have never arrived to closed doors because the client found their man, closed up shop, and went home early.
Parade On!

It's a fine audition that will suit the needs quite nicely.
However.... (oh yeah, there has to be an "however")....
The overall affect of the demo is in the EQ and the tight-cut editing rather than the performance. (Respectfully acknowledging the performance quality is also there.)
If other Talents had not tweaked the production and only offered a cold-voice audition, would there have been a reluctance on the part of the Seeker to consider the other "performances"?
Apparently so.
Then again, the Seeker was quite concise about "the sound", so there was, indeed, fair warning provided.

Was that 4 or 14 cups of java?
Hills Brothers is SMOOOTH.....
Guatamalan bean makes me happy but, can't afford, on a regular basis, the $15 a pound.

Deby: looks like Ed Mace by the link. I think he's been on here.

Hey Connie,
That music was really cool. I could almost picture you with a magnifying glass and a Sherlock hat.
