So I've been using the site for a month or so now. Responded to around 70, mostly with custom auditions. Only 2 comebacks so far. Clearly (if we can put talent/vocal quality aside for a sec) time is of the essence. I rarely see a notice with fewer than 20 "answers". By the time I've done my custom read (<5min) and refreshed the page, there are 50 or more. I know I wouldn't listen to more than that. I guess my question is - is there any point in answering a lead if there are more than 20 answers when you first read it?

And how does anyone survive when the client is offering $50-$75 for a radio ad and 60-odd voices have answered? Of those, you just KNOW that there's someone undercutting the paltry 50 bucks. Does the option of putting your own rate in your response not undermine any minimum rate?

Finally (sry for the long post) - has anyone ever seen a union gig here? Confused

Gideon, you've just got to comb through the threads here. You'll find that every single one of those questions have been dealt with at length.
But, to summarize:
Yes; You can't; and Absolutely, but it shouldn't matter; No.
Respectively.

Robert- thanks for the reply. Yes, I'll search the forums. Sorry for the newbie-ness. Thrilled that you can do South African, by the way.

Very unusually, there was three union gigs (same agency) over at TOS tonight.
