I'm new to this business. I've responded with a couple hundred demos now and no bites. Is that pretty common just starting out?

Hi, Larry; thanks for joining us here.

And you're not that new...a year now, right? I took a listen to the spots on your site page, and recognized a lot of the texts.

For the fastest possible progress and instant critiques/suggestions, you should be flipping some of your daily auditions up on the oddly-named Demo of the Day thread.

Overall, it sounds like you're delivering everything with the same tone, style, mic placement. intonation, and attitude.
It's pleasant enough, but that close-to-the-mic, semi-whisper doesn't work for everything.

You might....oh, sorry. You didn't ask for all that, did you?

More precisely: to your question; absolutely.

Hope to hear your around,

Voice On!

Hi Larry - nice to meet you.

It's not that uncommon (the ratio is kind of high here).

Please post an intro with your background and goals in the "Hello" forum, and we'll be able to give you a bit more of an assist.

And as Robert mentioned, take a listen in the "Demo of the Day" forum. If you post some of your current auditions there, you'll get more feedback.

When you're ready for the Shark Tank, post a demo in the "voice over Idol" forum Wink

Cheers,
Joe J Thomas

Hi Larry,
I listened to your strict demo on voice 123. I think it could be really interesting if you actually sounded strict, pissed off, more pushy. I have to tell you if you were my Grandpa and you told me to get my hands out of the cookie jar with that soft, polite, almost meek voice, I would take my hands out wait till you weren't looking and then devour them all. I think rerecording that one with more passion, more emotion would be a really good start for you. You don't have to scream and you may not need to be that angry, but think "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore"

Hillary Huber (Audie Award winner) told me that she didn't book a thing her first year in the business. And she is an incredible talent.
