Is it OK to send an email to a client after you have done your voiceover, asking to recieve a copy of the completed audio for use in your demo? What is the etiquette on getting demos of your actual work?

Brice....During the initial talks I just end the conversation with....."Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the final produced spot? I always try to get a copy for demo purposes. Is that something that could be done? I would really appreciate it."

So far I have not been turned down by anyone that I have asked. They all seem more than happy to oblige. And are very friendly and helpful.

Hi Brice,

I usually try to address this early on in the job.
That way it's no surprise to the client.

If they don't follow through, I'll send one e-mail reminder. Something nice like "Just wondering how the project turned out and if I may have a copy of the finished spot"...

After that, I leave them alone. Don't want to become a nuisance.

My 2 cents,
Joe

Hi,

I go about this a couple of ways. Either

1) when emailing them the final audio and invoice, I ask for it

or

2) send a thank you note (via one of my postcards - this I ALWAYS do) and if I haven't asked for the final, I do it in my note.

Hope this helps!!

I always ask for a copy of the final production for my demo and resume. I also ask for a short testimonial from them. I have not had any trouble getting either one but you definately want to address the final product issue in the early part of the experience and ask for the testimonial after completion. That's my 2 cents.

This is exactly what you should do.

Don't bring it up too early. Don't make the session about "Can I get a copy of the spot."

Caryn; Where did you get your postcards printed, and what do they say? This is a great idea. If I only had a brand..... hmmm....
