this is for VO talent from outside the Pacific NW. Can you tell me how your agent decides which audition you are sent ? Does he/she say "it's up to the client " OR do they rotate the talent pool OR do they pick and choose who gets what ? I'm asking because of my frustration at hearing local radio spots that I didn't even hear about. Some of them are in a voice "category" that fits me, but I never even got the chance to try out for the project. When I've approached my agent with this question, I don't get satisfaction. I just keep hearing the same people getting most of the work. Anybody out there feel the same ? Thank you for allowing me to air out my complaints. I feel much better.javascript:emoticon(' ') |

Christine:
The agent makes money if one of their talents lands the job. It's in their best interest to send what they consider their likeliest candidates for a given audition.
If you're not being sent, it's because either:
-the agent didn't get the audition notice from the production house, or
- the agent doesn't think you can pull it off.
In either case, you'd be well-advised to find a new agent.

| I second that Robert. Christine, ask the question to your agent in a professional, friendly manner, (ask for a few minutes of his/her time for a feedback session or something like that) and then decide what's best for you. |

Christine, how do you know that the talent you hear on those spots are auditioning through your agent? Maybe they got that work on their own.
I'd set your sights higher than local radio spots anyway. _________________ Maya Kuper, audio producer

those VO talent who gave me a new outlook on the problem. I will take your suggestions and talk to my agent to get a better understanding of her choices on which person gets what audition. I'm also hoping that more jobs will come through V123 and I won't have to depend on the local stuff anymore.javascript:emoticon(' ') Glad to have this forum for feedback. |
