Hi all. I've just realized something...

There was me, busy sifting through all your golden character critiques over on the Voice Idol forum, when I'd never actually introduced myself properly! Me, me me...

Anyway, about me...

I'm Rajiv - born in Patna, India, raised and resident in Nottingham, England (no, I don't know Robin or the Sheriff etc..)

I've been floating around various kinds of voice work for about ten years now - starting in the BBC Radio comedy department as an impressionist on Alistair McGowan's show, and working all the way up to... hospital radio!

Setting up as a home-based voice artist has been a real career opener, and, so far, a sheer joy (even when I don't get the gigs). And forums and websites like this allow you to feel part of a wider community - albeit, a virtual one. I've already enjoyed the contributions of a fair number of the forum regulars, and look forward to getting more involved myself this time around. It's a shame we can't all meet up down the pub for a chat and a glass of what you fancy...

I guess characters and languages are my stronger points, but I love getting involved in most areas of voice work. That's the beauty of places like this - you can have a crack at whatever you want. Let's face it, we are blessed doing what we do - whatever our current level of success.

Hope you're doing well, wherever you are.

Have fun,
Rajiv

Hello Rajiv!

Glad you're back on the boards here...

Can't wait to hear more of your amazing stuff in the Demo of the Day forum.

The BBC radio gig must have been fun!

Welcome aboard,

Cheers, chaps.

Hi John - and thanks for the eastern greetings. The delicious irony is that, while I speak Italian, French, German, and Spanish, I don't actually have much of a clue about my mother tongue - Hindi (shameful, I know). Still, I can do the accent ok...

Hi again, Joe. I've never used Demo of the Day - tell me more about how it works...

All the best,
Rajiv

All the best,
Rajiv

Happy to be of assistance.

Every week one of the Moderators here (Freddie) starts a new thread in the Demo of the Day forum. Here's a link to the current one:
Demo of the day thread 4/16 - 4/22

As we VO's audition for things during the week, we post an mp3 of the audition on the Demo of the Day thread. Then others listen, post theirs and comment on the reads. It's a great way to hear how other people may interpret the same copy, and get feedback on auditions (since the clients rarely tell us much).

And that's it in a nut's hell!

If you take a look at the current one, you'll get the idea pretty quickly...
Joe

Welcome Rajiv, from Indianapolis, Indiana.

Oh, one thing. Seeing that you are from India, the country of over 1 billion people. I was wondering if maybe you knew this person I used to work with, she was from India but has since has become a citizen of the United States.

Her name is Pritika Gupta. Know her? Smile

Now that is truly odd.

Tom, Keith, Caryn, Robert, Thom, George...

'Ello, 'ello, 'ello, 'ello (again), 'ello, 'ello. (I knew I should have been a policeman.)

In the UK, we're 5-8 hours ahead of you, hence the delay.

And thanks, Joe, for the DotD info. I'm sure I'll drop in on that one in due course...

Keith, that was a good guess - Pritika and I grew up together in the south side of Darjeeling forest, where we were raised by a water lily and a cobra (no offense, dad). You may find a picture of her near the bottom of this page: http://onlypritika.blogspot.com/

Cari saluti a tutti,
Rajiv
