Hi everyone! So how do you get rid of all those mouth "squishy" noises and such. Some "clicks" but more of the squishy noises. They are a pain in the....mouth, so to speak. These things can really bug me at times.

Also, who has the great method of not getting every breath sound recorded? I have listened to some vo's live and you could hardly hear their breath. My mike picks up everything and on top of that I probably breath too loud anyway.

Thanks! stumm

Chew on green apples to reduce mouth noises....lots of water, no dairy.

for mouth noises.....particularly swoosh the water around over the front of your teeth. Swish it around in your mouth and then swish it up under your lips and around your teeth. most clicks and squishies come from the dryness on your inner lip and teeth....air bubbles get trapped in there and certain mouth formations break the seal between lips and teeth making the bubbles pop and squish.

Well you should see him in person.

These little bubbles keep floating out of his mouth, coming from the dry pockets between his inner lip and teeth. They have flashing banner ads on them that say "will voice for food".

Debbie.....thank you.....you owe me for a new keyboard....you made me power blast my coffee all over the place! let this be lesson one to all....I said swish around in your mouth....not power blast out of it! hahahahahaha
Debbie.....I have a very bad habit I picked up years ago. I can be very annoying when I explain things....I'm so concerned about being misunderstood...or someone not catching the full gravity of what I am saying, that I will say the same thing 3...4...5 different ways....sometimes using different examples, so that my meaning is clear......my wife gets aggravated sometimes.....she'll just say....I got it! can you move along with your story? or something to that affect. hahahahaha...of course she laughs, because she knows what I'm doing. But your lucky I didn't launch into 5 different descriptions of mouth washing. hahahahahahaha Thanks for the compliment tho.

Is the green apple thing just something you eat before your do a read, or are you saying to eat green apples just as part of your diet?

As far as the water goes, I drink more than most people. Two gallons a day. Yep, that's right. Been that way for years. It's a ton of water, but if I don't drink that much I can get dehydrated really easily. It's not that bad since I actually like water....drinking and swimming, but not at the same time.

I keep Altoid Sours in the booth with me at all times. Smile I've also heard good things about apple juice helping.

I can't use anything sour or that has citric acid in it....those things cause my saliva glands to go into overdrive, then I have the opposite problem....too much saliva.

No, just have slices of apples nearby, and munch on them during an audition, if needed. They dry up your mouth.

I was told that green apples was the thing to have before VO sessions, not because of the acidity, but both the pectin in the apple and the moisture, but primarily the pectin helped out with getting you ready for your reads.

So are the problem sounds because of a mouth that is too dry or too wet?

I see apples and Altiods mentioned. Do they dry the mouth or moisten the mouth?

Thanks from a mostly normal sounding, but sometimes squishy sounding voice.

TUMS! They work great for mouth noises.
Plus, they're a good source of calcium (hey! I should do commercials!)

Sooooo---In case anyone noticed, I've been absent from the Forum, busy and happily voicing away. Not like you unemployed slugs who have nothing to do but hang out here all day. löl
I jest. Catch up with you all later!
