Tony! That sounds GREAT! Love the chick. Good contrast from your voice to hers. Nice job!

Nice Anthony! What bit rate does everybody here use when saving files? Just curious.

Works for me, Tony..only I like Thom's deal with the closing slate. If the listener's stuck around that long, there's a pretty good chance they'll be interested in the "Who".
Maybe "Introducing the poetic voice.." at the beginning and the full "Tony Williams" with web address at the close.
Just a thought...

Opinion on that varies. I'd say the minimum is mp3, 128k, 44.1, 16 bit. If you submit auditions to V123 it is my understanding that they down sample it to 64k. They certainly do something to it.
Freddie... can you tell us once and for all what V123 does to our auditions as far as compression and sample rate are concerned?

To me, If I save at 128, it is too whishy washy (that is probably just to my ears) so I try to save everything at 256. 64 is "RIGHT OUT". But good enough for a little sample. I am working on full production of the psa script with sxf, will post when complete.

Robert, Tony - My thoughts on why I slate custom demos at the end - I figure that the client is looking for a voice - mine may be exactly right for their spot - so - I get into it right away - If they like, most likely they will listen to the whole thing - If they don't like they are going to pop to the next voice - right away - in that case I might be just perfect for their next production - so I don't want to "brand" the demo skipped with a slate up front. Considering that I might have their attention for 3 or 4 seconds up front - I want them to sample my wares, not a 2 or 3 second long slate... then the demo. Other thoughts on slates?

James, it's a good start and it's great to hear your first demo posted here on the forum. You have a nice voice and based on what I heard from your demo link on ebay we'll just have to ease a lot of that southern accent out of you and get a bit more conversationality into your delivery. But you definitely have the foundation for doing this. Looking forward to hearing much more from you! Also, if you haven't seen my response to you over on the OTHER thread you started under the "Demo of the Day" category, be sure to go give it a look-see.
As far as bit rate, since Voice123.com downsamples every demo to 64k there's not much reason for doing your demos at much above that anyway unless there's a chance the client will end up using the actual DEMO as the final piece, which has actually happened to me twice here! And I only do my demos at 96k! But the clients didn't complain. As voice geeks we might put a bit too much emphasis - SOMETIMES - on bit rate. I mean, if it's going on the web as part of a Flash presentation, then 96 or 128 is more than good enough. If it's going onto video or broadcast, then obviously it needs to be as high as possible.
Anthony... I think for demos that fit your typical vocal range that slate works well. You'll need to keep it as short as possible. Colin did some bang-up slates for me, but I had to trim 'em down. I found that being given only :60 per audition, I needed every second I could to make an impression on the client. I love the music, though. My kind of jazz!
Thom: GREAT point about the slate! Never thought of that and may very well start tail-slating mine as well.

Yeah...sorry about the new thread I started. That was why it never did show up over here.
Scott, I don't think that I will ever be able to get the southern accent out of me. To me, it's just normal.

James, I grew up in Houston, then New Orleans, and have lived in the South my entire life. I've always had to fight that southern lilt working its way back into my deliveries and I often slip up. I'll warn you that if you choose not to work on 'homogenizing' your accent, it's going to really limit you in terms of picking up national work.
