Stand aside, ladies: Marilyn's about to zoom through.
Wonderful change, Marilyn. I always heard you as being a trifle stern and school-marmy. It works beautifully on certain reads and direction.
But to find a new, cozier tone expands your horizons brilliantly. And it must feel exhilarating.
Wonderful warmth.
Kudos to the amazing Phyllis for plumbing your depths. Congrats to you for daring to try different.

Okay, let me just say, I just had Phyllis give me an analysis (first phone session) of my voice.
Let's just say I have never had someone reach in and describe to me what I sounded like. What's really amazing is that she was absolutely correct. While she did not beat me up she was able to lift me up as to the possibilities of my voice that inside I have always wanted to do. This first session, although free would have been worth the money of a regular session! It has opened my eyes and mind as to the potential that is within me.
She said she gives the first session so people can make sure they want to spend the money for the hour session. Are you kidding Phyliss, after the first session I want to see what's inside holding me back.
Well all I can say, is I CAN'T WAIT!!
I'll let you know what happens. Man this is like one of those make over shows. Oh...there's an idea?

I'm very happy for you Craig and others who have found Phyllis to be so helpful....but the proof is in the pudding...
Thursday after our 2nd session I answered a lead for a Real Estate Web site....it was the very first audition I did with my new 'real me'...I GOT THE JOB!!!! He gave me a 5 and I was hopeful and later that day I got a private message saying he wanted to hire me...He loved it!
If you have been thinking about having Phyllis hear you, or if your private leads have 'stalled', I encourage you to give her a call. It will be a real investment in yourself and your career....Thanks Phyllis _________________ Marilyn Taylor

I had my first call with Phyllis this morning, and I am with everyone else on this thread! I told her towards the end of the call, that whenever she said something about my voice, facial, and/or head movements, I looked behind me to see if she was there, haha.
After listening to my demo, she said I didn't really have any bad habits. I told her that I was coached a lot during my demo and I am very new to this. I said that I wanted to make sure no bad habits develop and that I correct my flaws from the get go. After I spoke with her, she noted a few interesting things that I do with my voice that I never realized. She still said I had no major bad habits, and she suggested that we maybe just speaking once a month to monitor my vocal progress.
Phyllis does a great job of focusing on you and your needs, and I am really excited to get started with her! I would recommend her to anyone pursuing VOs or anything speech-related! |

I just finished up my second session with Phyllis and I know I have work still to be done. But what I have noticed is that I am beginning to see what Phyllis sees when she "hears" a voice.
It is amazing.
Phyllis has been opening my mind to my natural sound. It is very hard to explain unless you have had a session with her. I know that folks who have already worked with Phyllis know exactly what I mean.
Phyllis is slowing peeling away the years of "radio announcing" layers to let the "real" voice speak with the listener. Thank you so much Phyllis, it is an exciting time in my life.

Just got off the phone with Phyllis -- and she is truly a gifted, warm and wonderful person. The connections and clarity she gave me in this brief consultation have already helped me. I know I will greatly benefit from working with her. (And we found we have so much in common!) _________________ Diane

Just got off the phone. Where to start? It's not about the voice...it's about me as it should be.
I'm going to enjoy this journey. She is a wonderful light.

My first full session with Phyllis was incredible. She's tapping into some issues with me that have been trying to sabotage my reads and -- well, it will be like losing a ton of weight when I deal with them. I'm feeling lighter already! _________________ Diane

Howdy,
I'm chewing through my homework and I absolutely feel lighter. Hmmm...the Phyllis "Karma" diet?
Works for me, on so many levels!

Now now, if it was a diet, it would be the Phyllis Cleanser Diet! Each of you come to this free of anything like "karma" and such spiritistic stuff, as soon as you talk to me. Leave all anxieties, excuses and fears at the door. You are deemed innocent and come with a clean slate. We are simply peeling back the layers that are covering up your real voice.
Sometimes it's a bad announcing habit, sometimes it is something emotional locked up but affecting your voice, or both. I'm just seeing it like a person might see things in the dark with those night vision goggles. It's there for me to see - and anyone else who can see sound - like reading a book. Not magic or anything like that. I say this often because you all know how odd it must feel when I seem to miraculously know something - when it's just something I see on your voice.
The sight is a gift and I don't take credit for it. The voice "therapy" comes from training I've had in early childhood development and working with traumatized children - children from very very difficult origins who have emotional special needs. But even in the best of situations, we all come into adulthood with wounds and scars - and they can affect how we sound and how easy or hard it may be to lift ourselves out of "us" and into the voice of the customer. _________________ Phyllis K. |
