One of the problems with accepting low paying work, especially ongoing work, is that you may get tempted to do a low quality performance. This than reflects on your abilities and makes you look less attractive to the next voice seeker.
Be fair in your pricing, be sure to include the post work, and be resonable. If you don't take the jobs that are offering less than nothing pay, you will feel better about yourself and that is important. _________________ Larry Maizlish

I just wanted to chime in with an update on this. The client just gave me another job! So they agreed to the rate because they want me, not out of a sense of desperation just to have the project done.
Thank you all for your input and support. It means a lot! |

That's right, Michelle....some of us are not as "dime-a-dozen" as we might think. When a client likes your vocal style and your expediency, that's all that matters, and they will continue working with you.
Good for you, honey! |

Here's a dose of reality:
A week ago, I received another IVR assignment from a small company. I had done a job for them months ago for $40 bucks. (I was bored) So, this is another job - recording three pages of telephone prompts for three different companies - for the same price.
I politely turned them down, and encouraged them to post the job 'cause there are lots of folks out there who might want to do it.
A day later, I saw the same job on V123...and more than 200 auditions were filed...for this $40 gig that'd take at least two hours to produce!
It is what it is...
...but I just couldn't do it for that. |
