Well, since we have so many musicians and singers on this site, and since we've chatted about music here before, thought I'd share two things with 'the gang'...
- I have a stunning, virtually PERFECT Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar, about 5 years old, for sale (yes, yes, I KNOW this should be on the 'Buying and Selling' forum, but there's more to come...). Includes original Gibson hard-shell case and plays beautifully. It's a solid dark burgundy and is simply stunning. $750 before I put it out on ebay next week if anyone is interested.
- Now, WHY am I selling it? To buy the most unique and melodically beautiful instrument I've ever heard in my life. It's called the Chapman Stick and you can learn about it, and its creator, here: www.stick.com
Also, absolutely listen to this song that this talented stick artist (stickist?) is playing on this YouTube video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=_JjimMO2SdE
I plan on driving to Nashville next week to look at a used one since there is about a year-long wait on new models.
Sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy........... _________________ Scott R. Pollak

That's a pretty awesome instrument there, Scott!
The Youtube video is cool too. You'll have post some sound clips up for everyone to hear. |

First of all thanks for sharing the video with such beautiful sound
Second , Giving up the Les Paul has to make you feel a certain loss musically
Third , The Stick is a very very very beautiful sounding instrument that i can't wait to hear you play.
How long do you think it will take you to learn the "STICK"? Seems very interesting and not like i don't have enough instruments already, tell me how you like it

Absolutely incredible! I enjoyed watching it being played as much as listening to it. The fingering looks a little like that of a sitar. What an awesome instrument! I can't wait to hear some tracks from you on this thing, Scott... _________________ Alan Simmons

Good stuff Scott! I don't think I've seen this before. Thanks for the info...I'll certainly be looking into more of this sound for my archive.
Cheers,

I guess I am second in line for buying a Stick. I fell in love with it when I first heard the sound. Send me some audio when you get the Chapman and have some licks down.
I am actually looking at the Mobius Megatar as an introduction instrument. The Warr Guitar is also a possibility.
Oh, Scott; there are a couple of used Chapman's on eBay, believe it or not.

Frank, the first place I looked was on ebay and they're commanding a small fortune there. A used one sold last week for over $3000. I'm looking at $1300 for this one used.
I've listed to the Mobius and don't like the sound NEARLY as much as the Chapman, plus, they're factory made and not hand-made like the Chapman. I haven't heard as many good things about them, although they ARE a bit more affordable. I've heard of the Warr guitar but haven't researched it yet. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

$1300, $1600 and $1700 are prices on eBay right now. I have not heard the Warr, but thought it would be interesting to research.
I think you are absolutly right on when speaking of the Chapman... I would not buy the others after listening to some recorded tracks.... It's Chapman Stick all the way. Thanks Scott!
Please keep me informed of the used Chapmans you find in Nashville. I am serious about buying one too.

...I don't know much about guitars, but it looks like your's is missing that big part on the one end. I'd make sure they include that if you're buying one!
So, how about this folding one instead?

I dunno, Joe. I'm thinkin' it's gonna be pretty hard to press the strings all the way down once you get up to about the 12th fret or so.......
Frank: Got yer message and am getting ready to send you some info via p.m. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
