Hey Guys,
Please listen to my voice overs. I have so far got 2 jobs, though I feel If I add more examples, I may get more work.
I have thought about innovative nightclub spots etc. So Far my jobs have been character reads, and radio spots. The job have been great.
Any advice would be much appreciated |

Marc:
Since you asked......
Do my (inexpert) ears deceive me, or is the first half of your (overlong) characters demo pretty much the same?
From just before the Bedtime snippet and through to the end you display a wonderful range of distinct voices. But it takes a patient listener (or Voice123 colleague) to get that far.
My advice is to shorten it dramatically, and ensure that the four-five characters remaining are individually strong. And maybe toss your natural voice in at the end for contrast.
I also thought the background music was excellently applied.
Voicingly Yours,
Robert Jadah |

I'm in 100% agreement with Robert's assessment. The characters all sounded pretty much the same to me, and the demo is WAY too long. If you can do more of a true variety of voices, then I'd work up a whole new demo, keeping the whole thing :60 or less and keep it moving FORWARD. Keep the listener WANTING to hear more, not wanting it to end.
I also agree that the music was well-done.
At the risk of getting a bad reputation here for posting my own demos, I'm only going to post my character voice demo for you to listen to as an example. No, I'm not the expert, but this demo seems to work for me. Interestingly, I have a "Steve Irwin" character on mine, as well.
Finally, one thing I've found out over the years, both as a voice talent as well as a producer who has HIRED talent, character voices aren't in demand much. 99% of the clients are just looking for a real read that will connect with the listener.
Anyway, hope this helps and best of luck to you! |

Hey Marc!
you've got a great range, and I agree with the above post to shorten this demo a bit, and take your stronger character voices. speaking as a producer the above feedback about using your own voice is 100% correct. i work at cartoon network, and it's rare we go outside looking for character talent. however if that's where your heart lies go with it man. take care.
