Well, we've gone an entire day without a demo being posted. Admittedly, it's been a SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW day here with the leads. But I did finally land my first job from the 'other' site today, and the irony is that it's a MUCH harder delivery than what I'm known for. So for lack of anything else out here, here's the demo for that job.

Just to jump in, John...very nice read. Nice pitch and tone to your voice. You read very well. I wonder if you could have warmed it up a bit, here and there. Not too over the top, but in some places, maybe more conversational. The part of introducing Debbie sounded good, upbeat to your voice. A hint of a change in pace.

DEBBIE...
thanks much for the spot on observations....
ahhhh, The 3 Demos.. The one i plan to do, the one i do, the one i wish i woulda done.. aint it the way?
thinkin the pace was inconsistent due to the breathing exercises my voice coach gave me to do prior to performing... after breathing wrong all these years i get a tad dizzy doin it proper ....
and the conversational practice continues....
yeah, was a bit confused about the cry ... you werent afraid i was going to swipe your Easter Peeps, were ya?
Be Well

A long time ago at one of the better studios in Dallas that produced a ton of V.O.s there was a sign on the front door that said "Do your best delivery HERE....not in your CAR going home".

Ok... I'll give you some fodder.
I'm a DOD virgin, so don't completely throw me to the wolves here. Just maybe my arm.
This second one is a :15... when I did the first take, it was about :23. So I had to speed it up. It still came in at :16.
The first one was for the "middle age" range. I don't usually find I can pull it off. But, it was for a zoo... I thought I'd risk it and give it a try.
Thanks!!!!

| It's really true. To this day, after 100yrs, I can still choke up whenever the red light comes on. Thats the real key here....especially if your on camera and there's 15 production people watching you. If you don't give it all you've got....you'll never get called again. It only takes ONE choke-up....ONE complaint....ONE excuse....ONE late arrival for the session and your on their Black-List. But there's another side of the story....It's the Producers job to make you feel comfortable, confident, assured & capable. Then if you still can't do it.....There's a McDonald's Near YOU.

LOL... oh, my secret vice.... McDs!!!
You're right... we have to remember to give it all we got. I'm so guilty of that at times!
Debbie, THANKS for your comments and demo!!! I hear the difference! I really want to extend my range. I'm 35 but sound 12. I want to work my voice via exercises and practice so that I can have a wider age range. The "middle age" range is far more in demand!
Ahh yes... the mouth noise! I've not yet had a complaint in session... they clean it up pretty well on the other end. But, I agree, it IS an issue. I've knocked out caffeine and sugar completely. Not sure what to do.

Hi All
I posted one demo last week and I've been busy so this is my first chance to post again. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I'm trying to get rid of the sing song sound to my voice and I think I may have improved a little. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to shake that sing-song sound? ... Or any other suggestions?
Also, you'll notice that I named the anonymous company after my family name. Any thoughts on whether this is a good practice or not? I have fun doing this and mention it in the comment section to the client. It seems to me that it would just make my name stand out a little more to the client, but maybe there's a downside that I haven't thought of. Does anyone else do this?
