Something no one has mentioned yet is coyrights..
Ensure when sending your demo that the client is aware that the
voiceover demo is copyright protected, this protects your ass
in the event the client unlawfully uses your voice. Sign up to a pre-paid
legal service if you're on a more professional level and a budget. It's very affordable. And no talent should be without it.
When sending your demo, there is a space in the comment box to apply this info. Usually you can put something like...."The talent on this recording(s) are copyright protected, (c)2007(p) and can be released on
approval and payment for recording". This will put the client in a position,
that they are unlikely to steal and use your demo. The fact you do this will likey say to the client you are professional.
You can download the appropriate Circle "c" and Circle "p", likely at : www.dafont.com ,I don't have this on my laptop yet, it's on my other computer.
Voice123 may want to put a link to a prepaid legal service on their site,
perhapse selling this as advertising space to prepaid legal. They'll likely
go for it as they'll benefit from talents requiring this service.
Anyways, hopefully this helps. |

Thank you for all your tips! Some of your recommendation have been included on the new release of Voice123 that is coming soon (I know it has been delayed a few weeks but I am sure you will be excited with all the new features). _________________ Alex Torrenegra

Well I wanted to add my two cents worth.
First, I am worried about the Smartcast change. I am new and I signed up for this service because I know I needed a venue to learn. I want to submit to all leads that I am even remotely qualified for because it is helping me learn what I am good at and helping be get better at all the ones I do.
My background is in technology and I am used to change. I am also use to change usually being a tough but good thing if you adapt. Sometimes it isn't though. I will wait to see what the changes are, give a fair amount of time to tune it and then raise holy heck if it carves me out of something I paid for.
Second topic, the pricing issue. As someone new, I have priced lower quotes for a couple of reasons...First, I want to get paid for something second I know that there are others who are more experienced than me and I am probably not worth as much as they are. But maybe second best is good enough for some uses. I am sorry, but price is a huge part of competition. I out serviced and out priced my competition for many years in IT and made a very good living....then I started getting out priced by India and China. It is a tough world.
Finally, price fixing is illegal. It is a good way to get hit with an anti trust lawsuit. Most of you are better at this than I am. You will get paid more for jobs where better is needed. But if someone only needs a Toyota instead of a Lexus, I will get work.
getting down off the soapbox now. _________________ 865-686-8925
