M-Audio Fast Track

I just received my new M-Audio Fast Track.
Loaded the software, plug it in, plug the mic in with the cord...
I am trying to run the hardware test for the fast track and I am getten nothen!! Confused

Is there a trick to the set up of this item?
Does my Sound Forge need to be open?
The mic doesn't seem to be 'live' at all.

Help!!! Please!!! hilfe

Heather,

First idea: does your mic need phantom power? If yes, make sure the phantom power switch on the FastTrack is enabled.

And that would be were on the back of the fast track?

I see a place for the mic, a guitar, input level button, two output spaces, the USB cord and a slot with a picture of a padlock above it......
